Santorini: Paintings on wood

Another element of Greek art that I enjoyed was that of painted wood slabs, that came in all number of different shapes and sizes, some as large as wooden doors.

The bright blue scenes of Santorini contrasted greatly against the dark brown of the wood, that complemented one another really nicely.

The paintings also work really well against lighter colours as they blend in with the lighter colours of the buildings. The dashes of colour in the flowers also provide further contrast to the paintings and add more authenticity to the Grecian feel to the pieces.
